Last time they met was..

March 27, 2016- Staples Center, Los Angeles: Wizards 101, Lakers 88

What to watch:

Fully turned tables.

My how things have changed. On the morning of December 1st, the Los Angeles Lakers were 10-10. Luke Walton was looking like the Coach of the Year. Meanwhile, the Wizards were 6-11, Scott Brooks wasn’t a savior, Bradley Beal wasn’t a max player, and John Wall wasn’t better than Kyrie Irving.

The Lakers were overachieving. The Wizards were asleep. If only Greenday could’ve told us Wizards fans, wake us up when November ends.

And talk about staying woke! Since December 1st, the Wizards are 22-9. They rank near the top of the league in both offensive and defensive rating during the stretch. They’ve won 5 straight games, 15 straight home games, and lead the division. John Wall and Bradley Beal are playing together like they like each other, Otto Porter is shooting like he plays for the Warriors, and Kelly Oubre dunking on fools on a nightly basis.

As for the Lakers…Since December 1st, they’ve woken up from their dream start to face the rude awakening that they aren’t any good. They’re 7-24 since December first. They lost to a bad Mavericks team by 46 points. The only good thing you can say about the Lakers right now is that most of their players try most of the time.

I’m not sure about the changes in DC these days, but the Wizards being greater the Lakers is definitely one thing I can tolerate for four more years.

Key Matchup:

John Wall vs. 20 assists

The Lakers are really bad at defense. Like, worst in the NBA bad. John Wall is really good. He has 19 assists just two nights ago. That was on the road. And that wasn’t against the worst defensive team in the NBA. 20 assists is definitely in play tonight.

X-Factor:

Otto Porter

We all know Otto Porter is ballin, but he is straight BALLIN in wins. Kid is scoring 15 points, shooting 57% FG, and 50% from three. If he does that tonight, 16 straight wins will be Otto-matic.

Fun Factor:

Footwear: Kobe may have retired, but Kob e’s shoe legacy is alive and well, courtesy of John Wall.

Wall has been sporting all types of Kobe’s all season long. Keep an eye on what he wears tonight. It’s only fitting he wears something special against the Lakers.

Prediction:

Wizards stay woke. 16 straight, and counting.
