What to watch

For one night, and one night only, the Wizards have their playoff lives in their own hands. There is is only one scenario which puts the Wizards in the 2016 NBA Playoffs:

  • Wizards win out AND Pistons lose out.

Tonight’s opponent? The Detroit Pistons.

This game is not “must-win.” This game IS must-win. A loss tonight means a lost season. Let’s see what we’ve got.

Key Matchup

Washington Wizards vs. Playoff Pedigree

One game, head-to-head, to keep a season alive? Hmm. That sounds kinda like a playoff game. We might not learn tonight for sure whether the Wizards can make the playoffs (OR we might), but we WILL learn tonight if we even want them to.

This game has playoff game stakes, for both teams, which means winning this game will require playoff mentality, playoff pedigree, playoff intensity, and playoff execution. The stars have to elevate their games. The role players have to fill their roles.

If the Wizards can’t win THIS game, they’re simply not a playoff team.

John Wall’s knee.

John Wall missed the Nets game with a knee injury, trusting that his teammates would keep his season alive until he got back.

He’s been announced as “questionable,” which leaves no question in my mind that he will play. There’s plenty of reasons Wall shouldn’t play:

    1. He’s hurt.
    2. The probability of making the playoffs is still slim, even if the Wizards do win tonight.
    3. John Wall’s health is more valuable than a Wizards 1st round playoff exit.

Here’s some reasons John Wall will play:

    1. A loss tonight ends John Wall’s season.
    2. He’s John Freakin Wall.

Fun Factor:

This is the end.
