I love the basketball offseason, primarily because it’s so damn transient. Barely three months removed from their epic playoff run, the Wizards have officially released their preseason schedule, set to begin on October 6.
The Wizards are slated to begin their preseason on the road for the first three games, starting off at the United Center in Chicago against the Bulls on October 6. This will feature as a rematch of last year’s first round playoff series and also a rare, yet alluring matchup between John Wall and Derrick Rose. The Wizards will then move on to play the Pelicans in Jacksonville, Florida and then South Carolina to play North Carolina’s Charlotte Bobcats.
The Wiz will return to DC to play three games at the Verizon Center, which are apparently the most the Wizards have played in DC in a while. Perhaps this can serve as a warm-up for Wizards fans to come out and see their up and coming squad early. The home games will be played against Detroit, Charlotte, and Maccabi Haifa, a premiere team in Israel’s top basketball league. I guess John Wall and Bradley Beal will in fact get a small dose of international competition.
The preseason is “highlighted” (per Wizards PR) by the ‘second annual Baltimore classic’ against the New Orleans Pelicans on October 20. Last year’s game was played against the Knicks and was a sellout.
The Wizards will conclude their preseason in New York against the Knicks on October 22.
Here’s the full schedule.
