Broken bones don’t phase Ernie Grunfeld. Well, at least not broken bones on non-shooting wrists. A disheartening past few days for Bradley Beal lead up to the refreshing news from just an hour ago as the Wizards, via press release, have announced that they will be exercising the fourth-year contract option on their esteemed shooting guard. Also mentioned in the the press release was Ernie’s decision to exercise the third-year option on Otto Porter as well.
Both Beal and Porter were surmised as contingents of the franchise’s future when they were drafted, and after a productive 2013-14 season for Beal, along with an even more productive Summer League for Otto, the two pretty much solidified their statuses as such.
“Bradley and Otto are both big pieces of the core group of players that we will build around as we continue to improve our team. We look forward to them playing significant roles in our success both now and in the future.”
With a good portion of the Wizards lineup at near-crumbling ages, and future roster changes inevitable, you can’t be mad at a foundation of Wall-Beal-Otto spearheading the franchise moving forward.
