HoopDistrict Presents: The Grunfeld Grader

With news that Ernie Grunfeld may be back for a 14th season in the Nation’s Capital, we decided it is only fair to judge the man by the actions, or in this case, his transactions. With the help of the countless stats kept by basketball-reference.com, and in an effort to hold this current Wizards organization accountable for the last 13 years of basketball decisions, we would like to share with you our Grunfeld Grader.
There are two steps to this semi-lengthy yet blatent reminder of what mediocrity looks like over the course of time.

  1. Give each transaction (111 total) a letter grade (A-B-C-D-F) by clicking inside each grade box and replacing our grade with yours, then press ‘enter’ on your keyboard to confirm the grade.
  2. After the grade for the final transaction is marked you will be given a Final Ernie Grade.

FINAL GRADING SCALE

    • A = I’m not sure what you’ve been watching for the last decade but we don’t see eye to eye on basketball matters.
    • B = You tend to have a very optimistic outlook on life. Good for you, bad for the Wizards organization.
    • C = The most realistic grade that could possibly be assigned to Ernie considering the middle-of-the-road mediocrity that we have come to know as Wizards basketball.
    • D = We see eye to eye. A lot more harm has been done than good. Every time we think that perhaps a corner is being turned the whole damn thing gets blown up again. Three year rebuilds for two year success sound like you need to find another job.
    • F = As in franchise killer. You truly believe that after 111 transactions there is not a single human being on the planet who could have done a worse job than Ernie – save for Isiah Thomas. Ernie is awarded no points and may God have mercy on his soul.
