December 26, 2016 at 7:00 PM

TV: CSN Mid-Atlantic

Last time they met was..

December 23, 2016 – BMO Harris Bradley Center, Milwaukee: Bucks 123, Wizards 96

What to watch:

Will the Wizards bounce back?

If there’s one word to describe their last game it’s this: embarrassing. The Wizards had problems stopping Giannis Antetokounmpo as he dropped a career-high 39 points. Milwaukee ran all over the Wizards, outscoring them 27-8 on the fast break. The Wizards beat this same Bucks team 13 days prior so tonight is the penultimate game of the four game series between these teams. Both teams won on their home court so the Wizards hope to protect their house and deliver their sixth straight win at Verizon Center.

Key Matchup:

Otto Porter vs. Giannis Antetokounmpo

Otto Porter was #Ottomatic in the first quarter of Friday night’s game, dropping 11 points and hitting three 3’s. He and John Wall would lead the Wizards with 18 points apiece. But the man he guarded, Giannis, dropped 39 points on 12-of-19 shooting including some highlight reel dunks that could be spoiler alerts this February during All Star weekend. If Porter wants to win this matchup, he needs to keep Giannis out of the paint and make him earn it from jumpers.

Life in the fast lane

The Wizards and Bucks are big on the fast break with the Bucks leading the East with 16.3 fast break points per game. The Wizards are ranked third with 14.9 per game. However, the Wizards were outscored 27-8 in fast break points on Friday. In order for the Wizards to run all over Milwaukee and get the crowd out off their seats, the Wizards need to step it up defensively and turn those stops into points in transition.

Fun Factor:

This is the second of back-to-back games against the Bucks and since I screwed up in the last preview on not getting the actual version of Drake’s Back To Back (sorry Drake!) let’s try this again with a video of him performing it live.

On another note, tonight is the first of a three-game home stand and the Wizards hope to protect home court and deliver their sixth straight home win. Kelly Oubre Jr. told reporters at shootaround:

“We gotta get our fans behind us again and continue to give them what they want, and that’s wins at home, make the games exciting and that’s what we’ve been doing these past five games. Just continue to play the way we play and the fans will get behind us. They’re like our sixth man out there. Hopefully we’ll have a good showing tonight”

There will be more highlight-reel dunks tonight but mostly from Wall and Marcin Gortat. Maybe some alley-oops too. Wizards bounce back from Friday, get their sixth win at home and somebody on the other team will miss two free throws in the fourth so the fans go home with free Chick-Fil-A.
